This advisory spans the end-to-end value chain, including corporate strategy, M&A, major project feasibility and development, market entry studies and operational excellence.

Deans’ strengths lie in connecting real business challenges with the rapidly developing world of digital technologies to deliver concrete value at scale. He specialises in innovating unique solutions to some of the industry’s most intractable issues, such as capital cost escalation, safety and sustainability.

Dean has developed integrated digital strategies across data, cloud and automation to drive true business transformation for a range of clients from global majors to mid-tier producers and the junior sector. In addition, Dean has provided expert guidance across the more traditional areas of cost reduction and performance improvement.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Dean was an advisor to senior leaders of a major global mining organisation. Before this, he was the Australian Metals and Mining lead at a leading global consulting firm, where he supported major global and mid-tier mining companies on transformation, capital investment and performance improvement initiatives.

• Initiated the acquisition and integration of a $2 billion mining conglomerate, which has delivered more than $40 billion of subsequent value
• Developed strategic and market entry plan for an emerging Iron Ore producer, which drove market capitalisation from approximately $100 million to more than $3 billion
• Advisor for a global Iron Ore miner, including an operating model restructuring, delivering multibillion-dollar bottom-line impact
• Development of a multibillion-dollar rail and port joint venture company spanning more than 1600km of rail
