Debbie Evans

Debbie Evans is a senior data protection and privacy expert with more than 20 years of experience leading regulatory compliance, security, corporate governance and data privacy programs for large, global organisations.

Ms. Evans has held numerous Data Protection Officer (DPO) and other senior, in-house governance roles for a range of organisations in sectors including life sciences, retail, insurance, technology, telecommunications and environment and has delivered data protection programmes and oversight to more than 80 countries. She is also a lawyer with specialised experience in data protection, information security, cloud computing, data and IT outsourcing.

Ms. Evans provides pragmatic advice, support and reporting across multi-jurisdiction data protection requirements and helps her clients create governance controls within product development, vendor management and M&A activity. She recognises the importance of understanding and adapting data protection programmes to fit organisational culture and supports collaboration across teams to create a network of privacy champions to meet data protection requirements. Her practice includes implementing data protection governance controls and frameworks including policy and notice creation, Privacy by Design initiatives, records management systems, data subject requests, breach management and bespoke training and awareness initiatives to align with organisational needs.

• Group DPO at Rentokil Initial and ran an independent compliance consultancy in the U.K.
• Served as a senior data protection lawyer for Gilead Sciences and Virgin Media, where she supported compliance with GDPR and other data protection laws
• Implementing data protection governance controls and frameworks including policy and notice creation, Privacy by Design initiatives, records management systems, data subject requests, breach management and bespoke training and awareness initiatives to align with organisational needs
