Deedra D. Smith has dedicated nearly 20 years to assisting clients with all aspects of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (“EDRM”) in projects involving information governance, compliance, data breaches, investigations, civil litigation and criminal litigation. Ms. Smith’s clients have included domestic and global corporations from industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, healthcare, high-tech electronics, insurance, manufacturing, media and communications, military, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, retail and security. She is also experienced in responding to data and information requests from national and foreign government agencies.

Ms. Smith provides expertise in advanced structured data analytics, technology-assisted review and computer forensics. Developing new solutions that address challenges in complex legal matters, her work includes class action and civil litigation, as well as high-stakes regulatory inquiries and internal investigations. Ms. Smith also focuses extensively on antitrust matters and Hart-Scott-Rodino second requests.

Advising clients on strategic planning, process improvement and change management across the spectrum of digital insights and risk management, Ms. Smith has managed and executed extensive, multifaceted litigation projects and investigations on behalf of Fortune 500 companies. In addition, she has assisted clients with end-to-end litigation services from early case assessment through case closure. Her experience also includes Canadian supplementary information requests, multidistrict litigations and Securities and Exchange Commission investigations, as well as Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and product liability matters. Additionally, Ms. Smith regularly manages projects utilizing multilayered analytics and predictive coding.

Prior to joining FTI Technology, Ms. Smith held leadership positions at consulting firms such as Ankura, Navigant and Alvarez & Marsal. She gained a broad technology background across computer forensics, intricate data challenges, enterprise networking, software design and development and system implementations.

Relevant Experience:

• Led discovery for a large airline industry client, ensuring deadlines were met and proactively mitigating issues that would hinder a successful merger
• Utilized technology-assisted review to analyze a client’s servers, which housed more than a petabyte of corporate data, to identify and ringfence shared competitive market safety data prior to an acquisition of the corporation
• Led the implementation of a process to move all claimants in a state from more than 28 legacy systems and 50,000 hard copy files into one centralized database repository to decrease organizational costs by nearly 37% in a class action litigation
