Dr. Ekaterina Lohwasser

Dr. Ekaterina Lohwasser has more than 18 years of experience in valuation in commercial and contentious contexts. She is regularly appointed as an expert to assess damages and complex valuation issues. She is often involved in international arbitration proceedings (ICC, DIS, LCIA, SCC, UNCITRAL, ad hoc) and has testified in front of international tribunals as an independent valuation expert in German court proceedings. Dr. Lohwasser has led numerous cross-border, contentious projects with regard to the assessment of damages arising predominantly from breaches of sale and purchase agreements in merger and acquisition (“M&A”) transactions, investment treaty claims, commercial contracts, and joint venture and shareholder agreements in matters with claims amounting to several billion euros.

Previously, she also advised large, medium-sized and small corporates and financial investors in a non-contentious context by performing fairness opinions, valuation in connection with transactions (PPA, contribution-in-kind), fiscal or legal reorganisations, and valuations of complex assets such as brands, intellectual property, software and joint ventures.

Dr. Lohwasser has published numerous articles on financial aspects of commercial and post-M&A disputes and valuation matters. She regularly presents at professional congresses and client events. She is recognised among the leading expert witnesses worldwide by Who’s Who Legal in Arbitration.

Dr. Lohwasser holds a doctoral degree from HSG, University St. Gallen, Switzerland, and has degrees from Eberhard-Karls-University, Tuebingen, Germany, and Lomonossov Moscow State University (“MGU”), Moscow.

Dr. Lohwasser is fluent in German and English as well as her native Russian.
