Erica Albertson combines her years of law firm e-discovery management across the United States, Europe and the UK with hands-on consulting expertise to provide clients with innovative solutions to complex litigations, investigations and regulatory matters. Ms. Albertson is a leading expert in the use of advanced artificial intelligence in litigation and investigations to drive efficiencies and insights in first level review, fact finding, summarisation, case chronologies, witness preparation and more. She specialises in telecom, media and technology industry and construction disputes and advises on data strategy in UK High Court litigation.
Ms. Albertson’s extensive understanding of the intersection between legal strategy and advanced technology underpin her work across some of the UK’s largest and most complex e-discovery matters. Drawing on years of experience with Practice Direction 57AD, Ms. Albertson provides clients with strategic guidance on how to leverage disclosure rules effectively within broader case strategy. She drafts and analyses disclosure methodologies, disclosure review documents and disclosure certificates, ensuring that the approach is defensible, reasonable and proportionate.
Ms. Albertson is recognised for her expertise in machine learning, technology-assisted review, continuous active learning and the strategic application of generative AI tools and workflows to litigations and investigations. She combines this technical knowledge with a comprehensive understanding of legal processes to deliver innovative, defensible solutions for data scoping, discovery workflows and disclosure strategies. Her advisory work focuses on ensuring e-discovery methodologies are efficient and defensible.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Albertson led the e-discovery practice at Simmons & Simmons and has spent 20 years managing large-scale e-discovery matters and working as a trusted advisor for top-tier clients globally.
Relevant Experience:
- Advised an artificial intelligence company on its data scoping disclosures and regulatory investigations into the intellectual property of the organisation’s AI models
- Utilised generative AI in several construction disputes to identify relevant images across entire construction databases, developing custom application programming interfaces (‘APIs’) to easily pull data from project management platforms like Aconex
- Led technology-assisted review in a case that resulted in a landmark ruling as the first in which the High Court confirmed approval was not required to use advanced analytics
- Led one of the largest London Interbank Offered Rate (‘LIBOR’) due diligence exercises for a global bank and developed custom due diligence, contract review and remediation technology and workflows in Relativity
