Gabrielle Fortes

Gabrielle Fortes is a Director in FTI Consulting’s Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment, focusing on business intelligence projects such as investigative due diligence, background checks, asset searches and investigations. Gabrielle has nearly 10 years of experience in the compliance industry, having worked on several complex projects across Latin America.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Gabrielle worked for almost 10 years at S-RM, a UK-headquartered corporate intelligence firm, where she built experience working on in-depth due diligence cases and investigative projects, with particular experience in challenging projects in Latin America.

At S-RM, Gabrielle was the lead of the Latin America regional desk and oversaw the work conducted by the corporate intelligence research team based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Beyond team management, Gabrielle’s managed the accounts of key clients based in Brazil and conducted business development in the Latin America region.

Gabrielle speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Relevant Experience:

• Worked on a complex multijurisdictional investigation related to cigarette smuggling and the sale of counterfeit cigarettes in the Brazilian parallel market; the investigation involved comprehensive public record research combined with discreet interviews, as well as surveillance work in Brazil and Paraguay; the results of the investigation were shared with Brazilian law enforcement and aided in the identification and closure of at least three counterfeit cigarette factories in Brazil
• Managed a bespoke investigative project looking into a Brazilian businessperson targeted by a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (“CPI”) in Brazil investigating the alleged funding of a campaign of misinformation via WhatsApp during the 2018 Brazilian presidential elections; more than 20 discreet interviews were conducted with well-placed contacts, including lawyers, local government members and law enforcement
