About Heather
Heather Wilson is a Senior Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment. Ms. Wilson specializes in crisis and litigation communications, financial and M&A communications, public affairs and reputation and issues management. She has deep experience across healthcare, media and entertainment and technology sectors. Based in Los Angeles, she advises clients on leveraging modern strategic communications solutions around special transactions or crisis situations, mitigating reputation threats and multistakeholder engagement challenges, to ultimately drive corporate value creation and shape public perception.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Wilson served as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at AccentCare, a national provider of home health services, where she led all communications, crisis and issues management and digital and brand marketing. Earlier in her career, she was a journalist at CBS Marketwatch, Fox News and CNBC and held senior communications leadership roles at Weber Shandwick, SKDK and the then-Abernathy MacGregor.
Building on her diverse industry experience, including work with organizations such as IBM, HP, AbbVie, Mattel, the state of California and Goop, and for venture capital and private equity funds, Ms. Wilson guides organizations through complex events including crisis response, cybersecurity incidents, regulatory inquiries, high-profile litigation, transaction communications and investor relations and public affairs. In addition, her counsel has supported Fortune 500 companies, growth-stage startups, entertainment studios and public figures facing government investigations, political and consumer backlash and other critical reputation risks. She has played key roles in helping companies stabilize communications during headline-making moments, including her involvement in crisis communications response surrounding USAir Flight 1549, widely known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.”
Ms. Wilson holds a B.A. in Political Science from Southern Methodist University and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She is a member of the Page Society, National Investor Relations Institute (“NIRI”) and Female Executives in Media & Entertainment. She is a frequent public speaker on crisis management and navigating regulatory and public affairs challenges. Ms. Wilson was recognized by PRWeek as a Woman of Distinction and by PR News as a Top Woman in PR for her leadership and expertise in strategic communications.
Relevant Experience:
- Was part of the launch team for TIMES UP, along with a coalition of actresses, entertainment industry leaders, lawyers and activists and served as a key strategic communications and media lead for the Hollywood arm of the organization
- Created and led California’s $35 million Vote Safe public education campaign to combat misinformation and promote safe access to voting during the 2020 Presidential election amid the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in record turnout
