Itaru Kobayashi

Itaru Kobayashi has more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications and media relations across the energy, financial services, manufacturing and consumer goods sectors. Mr. Kobayashi advises domestic and multinational organisations on executive visibility, as well as crisis and risk communications, and has led high-profile media initiatives that build corporate reputation and trust.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Kobayashi was a director and senior manager in the branding advisory practice of a global professional services firm, where he guided clients on brand strategy and reputation management. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior manager of corporate communications at a multinational food and biotechnology group. He also served as a public relations manager at a leading technology manufacturer.

Mr. Kobayashi began his career with Japan’s largest electric utility company and spent 15 years in roles of increasing responsibility. During the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis, he coordinated external communications and media outreach in close collaboration with government agencies, managing one of the country’s highest-profile crisis responses.
