About James
James Baulch has more than 15 years of experience developing analytics solutions and strategies, primarily across health and mining. James has extensive experience across data strategy, systems and operations modelling, applications of AI, workforce analytics and he is adept at understanding the data landscape of clients from collection to consumption.
As a leader within FTI Consulting’s Data, Analytics & AI capability, James is deeply motivated by collaborating with clients to solve complex challenges with data and developing solutions that create lasting impacts, boosting organisational performance and resilience. He brings a balance of technical skills and commercial acumen to guide solution design and implementation. With exceptional communication skills, he has the ability to articulate outcomes of complex analysis and how they relate to business objectives.
James specialises in understanding complex systems and translating this information into detailed models, digital twins and analytics solutions with easy to interpret outputs to drive decision making for operational efficiency; often embedding these analytics solutions, uplifting client capability to continuously improve operational and financial performance.
Relevant Experience:
- Led the delivery of a warehousing and logistics review for a state health organisation; this review required detailed analysis of current supply chain operations across the pillars of service, capacity, cost, capital, carbon and risk, and a range of potential future state supply chain operations were modelled to guide the development of core principles for a future state strategy
- Led the design and development of a systems dynamics simulation model for exploring how certain factors can affect the adoption of digital health amongst allied health practitioners, working with a federal health agency
- Developed a detailed patient flow simulation model to help develop workforce and operational strategies to reduce patient flow bottlenecks for a major NSW hospital
- Led analysis centred on stock holding and purchasing reform driving opportunities for significant cost reduction and process improvement for multiple health organisations
- Developed detailed digital twins of supply chain operations to support tactical and strategic decision making for multiple mining organisations
