About James
James Wolf is deputy leader within the Office of the CFO Solutions practice and leader of FTI Consulting’s Boston office. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience in senior finance roles, Mr. Wolf advises private-equity-backed and Fortune 100 companies on strategic finance initiatives to enhance financial decision support, accelerate growth and improve profitability.
Mr. Wolf has significant experience enhancing enterprise-wide reporting and planning capabilities to improve performance management, strengthen decision-making and streamline end-to-end processes through finance technology and innovation. He works closely with executive leadership teams to shape strategy, optimize business models and support complex transactions.
Mr. Wolf’s experience includes improving commercial sales reporting and forecasting, developing standard cost reporting and profitability analyses, optimizing chart of accounts and enterprise data models for management reporting, and building financial models and driver-based planning capabilities.
Mr. Wolf has served as an interim senior finance executive for public and private companies navigating carve-out and initial public offering (“IPO”) transactions, helping to build finance functions to support long-term operational and strategic objectives. His experience spans both strategy development and execution across complex finance transformation initiatives.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Wolf worked in the Global Corporate and Investment Banking divisions at Morgan Stanley and Bank of America.
Relevant Experience:
- Led an equipment and fleet rental company through a complex spin-off from a Fortune 500 company and IPO on the New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”); improved the end-to-end revenue management lifecycle and capital management strategy for fleet acquisition, financing, maintenance and disposal, resulting in enhanced commercial and back-office efficiency, optimized working capital and improved profitability and cash flow that set the company up for success after becoming a standalone public company
- Created improvement roadmaps to accelerate profitability and identify recurring margin enhancement opportunities through initiatives including salesforce optimization and pricing improvement, as well as procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and logistics cost optimization
