J.D. Wichser specializes in retail performance improvement, including supply chain operations, merchandising processes, store operations, field performance and productivity management, e-commerce and selling, general and administrative (“SG&A”) strategy. Mr. Wichser has more than 30 years of industry and advisory experience.
Mr. Wichser is renowned for his ability to lead complex projects, partnering directly with senior managers and business owners in developing new strategies to drive performance and leverage technology to improve effectiveness and reduce cost. His retail subject matter knowledge is reinforced by a deep understanding of information and technologies necessary to enable retail performance improvement actions.
Select examples of Mr. Wichser’s experience include assisting several large and middle market retailers in identifying, evaluating and implementing programs to improve SG&A effectiveness and reduce costs across their operations. These programs have generated more than $5 billion of savings over the last three years.
In addition, Mr. Wichser was also responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive supply chain strategy and transformation program for a $40+ billion global retailer. He developed the overall strategy and implementation plans, provided process and content leadership to strategy development teams and developed a multi-year business plan, yielding more than $1 billion of economic value added through supply chain enabled changes.
Mr. Wichser also has conducted IT due diligence for multiple Fortune 500 retailers. A representative list of Mr. Wichser’s clients are household names and global brands, including Lowe’s, Target, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Petco, Wendy’s, Regis, CVS, Food Lion, Charming Shoppes, Darden, Dairy Farm, Kroger, CNA, Allianz, Cardinal Health, Pfizer, Andersen Windows, General Mills and SC Johnson. He counts CVC Capital Partners, Leonard Green & Partners and Freeman & Spogli among his private capital clients.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Wichser was a Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal Business Consulting. Before that, he spent seven years at Deloitte Consulting, where he was a leader in their Performance Improvement practice. Prior to that, he was a partner at Kurt Salmon Associates and an executive with Best Buy.
