Jeffrey Hecht

Jeffrey Hecht helps private equity firms and multi-asset managers navigate complex transactions, optimize portfolio investments and address tax, regulatory and compliance matters throughout the investment lifecycle. Mr. Hecht brings more than 30 years of professional services experience, including serving as the lead partner for some of the world’s largest global private equity firms. He leads the growth of FTI Consulting’s private equity tax and advisory services.

Mr. Hecht has extensive experience advising sponsors, portfolio companies and other stakeholders on complex domestic and international engagements. His work includes leading large-scale tax, regulatory and compliance initiatives, advising on transactions and investment structures and identifying opportunities to improve portfolio performance and maximize value. He has worked with private equity, alternative investment, real estate, infrastructure and renewable energy organizations across North America and international markets.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hecht has built and led high-performing teams and grown practices serving the private equity industry. As EY’s Global Private Equity Tax Leader, he led a global practice with more than 5,000 professionals across 145 countries and more than $2 billion in annual revenue, achieving double-digit annual revenue growth under his leadership. Previously, as EY’s Americas Private Equity Tax Leader, he led a team of more than 1,000 professionals and helped establish private equity as one of the firm’s fastest-growing sectors.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Hecht was a co-managing partner and founder of Wave Energy Capital, an energy investment firm focused on utility-scale clean energy projects. Previously, he served as Global Private Equity Tax Leader and Americas Private Equity Tax Leader at EY and as New York Financial Services Real Estate Tax Leader at KPMG. He began his career at Arthur Andersen.

Relevant Experience:

• Served as the U.S. lead partner for a major multinational investment banking and asset management firm, overseeing services across transactions, advisory and tax
• Served as the U.S. lead tax partner for a global alternative investment manager, overseeing domestic and international tax advisory services across private equity, infrastructure, renewable energy, real estate and credit
• Led a New York Financial Services Real Estate Tax practice through the COVID-19 pandemic and return to office, achieving double-digit revenue growth while managing teams, attrition and evolving client needs
• Served as a member of EY’s Global Tax Industry Executive Leadership team, collaborating with global industry, sector and service line leaders to deliver integrated services to private equity clients
• Advised private equity and alternative investment clients on technical and market issues as a frequent speaker at regional and national industry conferences
• Founded and co-managed an energy investment firm focused on utility-scale clean energy projects, with responsibility for capital raising, financing, investment analysis, execution and financial reporting
