About Jenn
Jenn Christian has more than 15 years of experience in national security, geopolitical risk management, complex investigations, international law and threat assessment across the public and private sectors. Ms. Christian has significant on-the-ground experience working across jurisdictions in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, focusing on national security issues and matters related to oil, gas and low-carbon energy business development, compliance and operations.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Christian was a Senior Intelligence Manager at bp, where she evaluated risks and performed investigations associated with project development and asset management in the oil, gas and renewable energies space. She has in-depth experience supporting market entry processes in Latin America by assessing and mitigating geopolitical, reputational, regulatory and security risks.
Ms. Christian contributed to the development of an intelligence-driven threat assessment model to identify and reduce physical risks to energy infrastructure at the design, construction and operational phases. Additionally, she has experience designing and executing workplace violence and insider threat mitigation strategies, drawing on her extensive background in counterintelligence. She is trained in the WAVR-21 workplace assessment of violence risk and has experience performing complex investigations into individuals who may pose an insider threat.
Ms. Christian spent a decade in the federal government, working on national security issues and developing expertise in nation-state threats, counterterrorism and counterintelligence. She now leverages this experience to help companies reduce operational risks in the United States and abroad. Ms. Christian has specialized training in collecting and analyzing disparate streams of all-source intelligence as part of complex matters and investigations related to national security. She also has extensive experience producing tactical and strategic assessments to guide risk management strategies and has briefed senior officials at the National Security Council, the Department of State, and intelligence and law enforcement agencies, as well as members of Congress, in support of national security policy formulation.
A subject-matter expert in sub-Saharan Africa, Ms. Christian has lived and worked in East and southern Africa, where she represented U.S. foreign policy objectives and national security interests in engagements with senior foreign government and security officials. She began her career in international law, supporting a multiyear boundary dispute involving parties in Sudan before the International Court of Arbitration in the Hague. A published author, Ms. Christian’s commentary on governance and rule of law issues in East Africa has appeared in print media and has featured on CNN, BBC and Voice of America. She holds a B.A. in English from Boston College, as well as a J.D. in International Law and an M.A. in International Relations from American University.
