Jim Koppa is a Managing Director on the Financial Communications team and leads the research function. Mr. Koppa focuses on the design and application of primary and secondary research initiatives to diagnose critical client matters and inform strategic decision-making.
Mr. Koppa recently returned to FTI Consulting after working for the firm from 2006 to 2015 in a capital markets research capacity. Prior to his return, Mr. Koppa served as the Director of Research at Clermont Partners, a boutique Investor Relations and ESG consulting firm. In this role, Mr. Koppa led the organization’s capital markets research capabilities and was a key contributor to thought leadership.
Mr. Koppa’s research-driven thought leadership focused on areas such as corporate guidance practices, sell-side engagement and institutional ownership trends. He also established the firm’s capabilities in market intelligence and investor targeting, as well as the development of a proprietary institutional investor database.
Prior to joining Clermont Partners, Mr. Koppa was a Global Marketing Consultant at Discover Financial Services, where he acted as an advisor to Discover Financial Services’ analytics and marketing teams, providing sophisticated data analytics and research capabilities to solve complex business problems and influence decision-making.
Mr. Koppa holds a B.S. in Business from Miami University and an M.S. in Applied Statistics from Bowling Green State University.
