About Jo
Jo Blades is a Director in the Economic & Financial Consulting practice. Jo’s experience spans a range of areas in finance and economics having worked in government, academia and consulting. Her areas of expertise include economic regulation, cost of capital, competition policy, risk management, strategic and commercial analysis, project evaluation, financial analysis and social policy.
During Jo's years as a consultant, she has developed a strong specialism in economic regulation, working with more than 20 regulated businesses in the energy, water, rail, ports and airports sectors. This has involved assisting with regulatory strategy, pricing, submission preparation and cost of capital advice. Jo has also assisted businesses in preparing submissions to regulatory framework reviews, including reviews of regulatory guidelines relating to pricing and other matters.
Jo has also been involved in strategic reviews of government-owned businesses, economic impact assessments, business plan reviews and development and social policy (including the economic costs and benefits of early intervention).
Prior to becoming a consultant, Jo spent most of her career at Queensland Treasury Corporation, where she had a range of responsibilities, including funding and risk management advice, corporate financial policy development and the development and delivery of a number of customer training courses.
