About Jo
Jo Hewitt is a market leader in UK and cross-border insolvencies, restructurings, restructuring plans and schemes of arrangement.
Jo has more than 20 years of experience advising companies, financial institutions, private equity funds and other creditors of distressed organisations on restructuring situations and refinancings. She also serves in insolvency appointments and has played a key role in some of the UK’s largest and most complex administrations, working with clients across a range of industries, including real estate, financial services, infrastructure and healthcare.
Jo’s extensive capabilities include developing contingency plans, analysing financial information, assessing intricate stakeholder positions, assisting in plan implementation, undertaking difficult negotiations in high pressure situations and much more. Additionally, she is a market leader in European restructuring plans.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Jo was a Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal. Previously, she was a Director at EY.
Jo is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. She also serves on the Executive Board for the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation.
Relevant Experience:
- Advised corporates and lenders on fallback planning; prior engagements include Addison Lee; Eddie Stobart; Hertz; Mithra Pharmaceuticals; Royal IHC; and a UK fertility treatment group
- Led the relevant alternative analysis to support the Virgin Atlantic restructuring plan, the first ever under the new UK restructuring legislation
- Prepared the relevant alternative evidence and advised the DeepOcean group on its restructuring plan, which saw the first ever cross-class cram-down in the UK; appointed as plan administrator
- Advised Royal IHC in connection with its Dutch restructuring plan (known as a WHOA)
- Advised lenders to Cimolai in connection with its UK and Italian restructuring plans
- Advised creditors on the National Car Parks (‘NCP’), Superdry and Virgin Active restructuring plans
- Led multiple Nortel company voluntary arrangements (‘CVAs’) across Europe; facilitated the return of more than $1 billion to creditors as CVA Supervisor
