About Joe
Joe Proffitt is an economist with eight years of experience across the energy and wider utilities sectors, supporting clients in the UK, Europe and Australia. Joe primarily focuses on the use of power market modelling to support investment decisions, electricity market reform and portfolio optimisation strategies across wholesale, balancing and ancillary services markets.
Joe has worked for a variety of clients in the energy sector, including major utilities, asset developers, regulators and system operators, deploying FTI Consulting’s in-house power market modelling tools to provide advisory support across regulatory, commercial and policy challenges.
Joe’s latest work focuses on electricity market reform in Great Britain, testing the potential impact of locational wholesale pricing, the co-optimisation of energy and ancillary services, different scheduling arrangements and cross-border transmission investments.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Joe worked as an economist on energy policy at the UK Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (‘DESNZ’) and has also held economic roles at Ofwat, the water sector regulator for England.
