About Joe Shipley
Joe Shipley has advised private capital clients for nearly 20 years, bringing multistakeholder, multichannel expertise to his client mandates. Joe has a background in managing political and public policy issues, including extensive experience with select committee inquiries and leading successful campaigns aimed at shaping public policy. He has also helped numerous privately held businesses develop their equity stories, prepare for fundraising and manage periods of intense scrutiny.
Joe is a former Partner at Kekst CNC, where he advised clients including OMERS, the Canadian pension plan and global private capital investor; EQT, the Europe-based global private equity and venture investor; and the SoftBank Vision Fund, one of the world’s largest investors in technology businesses.
Over the course of his career, Joe has worked on high-stakes transactions that have been the focus of political debate. At Kekst CNC, he co-led the team that advised Arçelik, the multinational household appliances manufacturer, during its acquisition of Whirlpool Europe, creating Europe’s largest household appliances business. He also co-led the global team that advised SoftBank on the proposed exit of UK-based technology business Arm to NVIDIA, the global technology leader.
Joe previously spent nine years at Brunswick advising a broad range of private capital clients, including Apax, Hg and Triton. He led the team that supported Telereal Trillium and Blackstone during the successful acquisition of the Network Rail property portfolio — one of the largest real estate transactions of the period. He also co-led the team that advised AIB during the bank’s IPO.
Earlier in his career, Joe worked at Permira, a European private equity investor. He joined Permira in 2007, while the firm was under extensive public scrutiny, and remained there through the onset of the global financial crisis.
