John C. Cornell

John C. Cornell is a Managing Director within the M&A Transaction Services practice and part of the broader Corporate Finance segment at FTI Consulting. Mr. Cornell has nearly 20 years of diverse leadership experience as both an advisor and an operator. He has advised or worked in-house for both public and private companies spanning a multitude of industries, of different size and scale and at various stages of their life cycle. Mr. Cornell’s experience includes a wide range of pre- and post-M&A services, including but not limited to: financial due diligence (buy-side and sell-side); financial analysis; cash flow modeling; contract negotiation support; vendor negotiation; working capital disputes; capital raise efforts; margin and EBITDA optimization; divestitures and carveouts; and developing and executing pre- and post-close integration plans. His industry experience spans consumer products and services, industrial products & services, home healthcare, wholesale, retail, food and beverage and technology, media and telecommunications, among others.

Mr. Cornell primarily focuses on providing buy-side and sell-side advisory services to private equity and strategic clients, including analyzing quality of earnings, quality of assets and working capital, as well as identifying potential liabilities and risks.

Mr. Cornell is a prior Big Four auditor and due diligence progressional, a former Chief Financial Officer and a former General Manager at a leading Private Equity-backed carbon accounting SaaS business. He also formerly served as Senior Vice President of M&A integration, leading cross-functional integration efforts including planning, implementing and managing financial and operational activities related to the integration of acquired businesses. Mr. Cornell holds a B.S. in both accounting and finance from the Villanova School of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) in the state of New York.
