About Johnathan
Johnathan Bridbord is a 23-year veteran practitioner in the digital forensics and investigations field, with a decade of experience in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. Bridbord has been qualified as an expert witness in Federal District Courts and is sought by clients for his extensive knowledge and skills in handling high-stakes, technically-sophisticated and complex digital forensic investigations and disputes.
Mr. Bridbord has led and supervised Digital Investigative analysts in forensic examinations, provided nationwide expertise to federal prosecutors and agents on cutting-edge data forensic issues and provided expert witness testimony in numerous federal district courts. He has developed processes and procedures for data acquisition, analysis and expert reporting at numerous agencies and consultancies. He is also deeply experienced in cybersecurity investigations and delivering advisory and expert services for data forensic analysis, incident response management, threat intelligence, security operations and security policy development. Mr. Bridbord has led large scale insider threat investigations involving theft of trade secrets. Moreover, Mr. Bridbord successfully deployed a Network Investigative Technique that identified and attributed remote access to an external threat actor during a corporate espionage investigation.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting’s Technology segment, Mr. Bridbord led the Cybersecurity Investigations and Expert Services Team within Ankura Consulting Group, where he managed complex computer intrusion and breach matters through investigation and developed strategies to respond to and mitigate cybersecurity and privacy risks and threats. He was also previously the Assistant Director of the DOJ’s High Technology Investigative Unit, and has researched and developed investigative tactics that have been implemented to counter encryption and malware, and to identify forensic artifacts of attribution from exit routers on the darknet.
In other previous roles, Mr. Bridbord was a Senior Forensic Examiner and developed data forensic capabilities at DOAR Litigation Consulting, and served as a Special Investigator and Security Engineer in the Citywide Information Security Architecture, Formulation and Enforcement Unit within the New York City Department of Investigation. In that role, Mr. Bridbord conducted computer and network security vulnerability assessments of New York City government agencies and performed computer forensic examinations of seized computer systems and digital media, in support of the inspectors general.
Mr. Bridbord has developed and presented innovative coursework as an instructor at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina, where he has trained hundreds of Federal prosecutors, Agents and Forensic Examiners on best practices involving computer forensic evidence acquisition, analysis and expert witness trial testimony. He has been recognized by the U.S. Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, Associate Attorney General, Assistant Attorneys General and FBI director for his performance of duty, contributions to cases and implementation of special projects. He began his career by serving honorably in the New York Air National Guard as a Senior Airman based in the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Beach, New York, and as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in his hometown fire department on Long Island.
