Johnathan Bridbord

Johnathan Bridbord is a veteran practitioner in the digital forensics and cybersecurity field, with more than 20 years of experience. Mr. Bridbord has been qualified as an expert witness in federal district courts and is sought by clients for his extensive knowledge and skills in handling high-stakes, technically-sophisticated and complex digital forensic investigations and disputes.

Mr. Bridbord is highly experienced in cybersecurity investigations, with expertise in data forensic analysis, network intrusion analysis, malware analysis, threat intelligence, security operations and security policy development. He has led large-scale insider threat investigations involving theft of trade secrets and successfully unmasked cyberstalking threat actors using technology and legal processes. He has expertise with evidentiary data sets, including servers, laptops, mobile devices, internet of things devices, cloud virtual machines, cloud containers and API endpoints.

Leading digital investigative analysts in forensic examinations, Mr. Bridbord has provided nationwide expertise to federal prosecutors and agents on cutting-edge data forensic issues and expert witness testimony in numerous federal district courts. He has been recognized by the U.S. attorney general, deputy attorney general, associate attorney general, assistant attorneys general and FBI director for his performance of duty, contributions to cases and implementation of special projects.

Prior to joining FTI Technology, Mr. Bridbord led the cybersecurity investigations and expert services team within Ankura Consulting Group. He managed complex computer intrusion and breach matters through investigation and developed strategies to respond to and mitigate risks and threats. He also was the assistant director of the Department of Justice’s High Technology Investigative Unit. In that role, he researched and developed investigative tactics that have been implemented to counter encryption and malware and identified forensic artifacts of attribution from exit routers on the darknet. He has developed processes and procedures for data acquisition, analysis and expert reporting at numerous agencies and consultancies.

Mr. Bridbord served as an instructor at the National Advocacy Center, training hundreds of federal prosecutors, agents and forensic examiners on best practices involving computer forensic evidence acquisition, analysis and expert witness trial testimony. Serving honorably in the New York Air National Guard, Mr. Bridbord was a senior airman based in the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Beach, New York.

Relevant Experience:

• Served as an expert in digital forensics and cybersecurity in defense of class action lawsuits alleging violations of privacy statutes through internet technologies
• Deployed a Network Investigative Technique (“NIT”) successfully that identified and attributed remote access to an external threat actor during a corporate espionage investigation
• Appointed by the court as a neutral expert in a technology industry trade secret dispute
