About Joseph
Joseph Richman has advised troubled and insolvent companies and various creditor constituencies both in and out of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process for more than a decade.
Mr. Richman has significant experience in matters related to cash flow projections, Chapter 11 preparation and operational readiness, business plan creation and analysis, liquidation analyses, claims reconciliations and fraudulent conveyance investigations, including expert report preparation. His industry experience includes media, tech, healthcare, energy and minerals and mining.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Richman worked for a boutique debtor-side advisory practice. He also has experience in securities trading, having spent time working for a foreign exchange broker trading oil, precious metals and various foreign currencies.
Mr. Richman is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and serves on its global executive board. In 2023, Mr. Richman served as the president of the Turnaround Management Association’s (“TMA”) Rocky Mountain Chapter and received the TMA 2023 “Emerging Leader Award.” Joe is also a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (“CIRA”).
Relevant Experience:
- Led the Chapter 11 preparation and operational readiness process and plan and disclosure statement process for a national radio broadcaster that led to the successful restructuring of $1.7 billion in debt
- Led the cash flow forecasting, Chapter 11 preparation process and plan and disclosure statement process for a cinema advertiser that led to the successful restructuring of $1.2 billion in debt
- Prepared a medium-term business plan forecast, cash flow tool and profitability analysis for a fixed-wing air ambulance company and its lender group, utilizing the forecast and cash flow to assess strategic options for a go-forward operating plan
- Managed a business plan reforecast to right-size the operations of a distressed coal company in the Illinois Basin, led the subsequent Chapter 11 preparation effort and managed the section 363 sale process, which included the sale of the profitable mining assets
