Ken Rugeti provides consulting and expert testimony in the areas of forensic accounting, damages analysis and valuation. In addition to serving as a consultant or expert witness for a particular party to a dispute, Mr. Rugeti frequently serves as a joint expert, either informally or under Court-appointment as an Expert or Referee. He has testified as an expert witness on numerous occasions in U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts, California State Court, arbitration and deposition.
Mr. Rugeti has worked on hundreds of litigated matters since beginning his career as a forensic accountant over 25 years ago. From small mediated matters to multibillion-dollar litigation, he has addressed a vast array of financial allegations related to companies in most major industries. He has testified extensively on financial issues and is skilled at teaching juries and judicial officers about the concepts presented in each case.
Mr. Rugeti has a broad base of forensic accounting experience that includes the reconstruction of financial data for purposes of determining income, analysis of issues related to financial contract compliance and investigation of fraud. In this capacity, he has worked for judicial officers, boards of directors, business owners, public and private companies, trustees, and trust beneficiaries.
Regarding damages analysis, Mr. Rugeti has addressed a wide variety of claims, including those stemming from alleged intellectual property infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, false advertising, business interruption, wrongful termination, personal injury, and wrongful death.
Mr. Rugeti has analyzed the value of businesses, ownership interests, derivatives, stock-based compensation, intangible assets and income streams. He is knowledgeable not only in the methods of valuation, but in the proper application of these methods to matters such as business acquisitions, shareholder and partner disputes, financial reporting and marital dissolution.
Mr. Rugeti is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant’s (AICPA) Forensic and Litigation Services Committee and currently serves as the Chair of its Economic Damages Advisory Panel. He currently serves on the Steering Committee for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (CalCPA) Forensic Services Section and previously served as the Chair of CalCPA’s Economic Damages Section.
