Kris Coghlan

Kris Coghlan is the founding member of FTI Consulting’s Lender Services Practice. Mr. Coghlan assists lenders, investment banks, commercial finance companies, hedge funds, business development corporations and other sources of capital with financing-related due diligence for both originations and ongoing monitoring of financial performance and collateral.

Mr. Coghlan has provided lender focused diligence for many types of debt including leveraged, high yield secured “B,” subordinated, debtor-in-possession (“DIP”), bankruptcy exit, subprime, asset-based finance (both ABL and securitization) and whole business securitizations. His experiences span across a number of industries including healthcare, manufacturing, technology, service companies and restaurants and a diverse range of collateral types. Mr. Coghlan has worked on transaction sizes exceeding $5 billion for borrowers located throughout North America, Europe and Asia. In addition, Mr. Coghlan has assisted strategic and financial buyers with acquisition related due diligence and post-close working capital analysis.

Earlier in his advisory career, Mr. Coghlan was a member of the Restructuring Practice at FTI Consulting and predecessor firms. In that role, he represented pre-petition secured lenders and creditors’ committees in bankruptcy proceedings and supported the management of operating companies during the bankruptcy process and in the structure and negotiation of DIP financings. He has assisted operating companies in devising short- to medium-term financial strategies and projections for use in troubled debt restructures, and implementing controls over cash expenditures, overheads and operating costs.

Mr. Coughlan began his career at Big Four accounting firms where he dedicated his efforts to the financial institutions audit practice and subsequent, the Financial Advisory Services line of business. Mr. Coghlan previously was a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Coghlan attended Bucknell University for his undergraduate degree in economics and the Pennsylvania State University for his M.B.A. in accounting and quantitative analysis.

Relevant Experience:

• Held management positions in financial planning and analysis at a $3 billion division of a Fortune 20 company and a publicly held, high growth specialty retail company, where he also directed operational performance initiatives
• Provided interim loan portfolio management for both real estate and commercial loan portfolios, coordinating with the lender and its counsel to negotiate loan amendments and initiated foreclosure proceedings
• Reviewed the quality of advances by a savings and loan association (“S&L”) to residential real estate investment partnerships; presented the findings and conclusions to a trier of fact, resulting in a judgment for the client
