About Laura
Laura Day is a health public sector specialist who has supported public servants in their delivery of essential services, enabling systems and functions over the last two decades.
Laura is a people-centred leader with a demonstrated ability to develop relationships to achieve outcomes collaboratively and strategically across all levels of government and within the healthcare sector.
Laura has worked for Australian Federal agencies (Departments of Health, Veterans Affairs, Defence and Services Australia), state health departments (QLD, NSW, ACT) and for national health departments across the region (Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Samoa and Indonesia) to support the design and implementation of policy, frameworks and functions that enable effective service delivery. She has extensive experience in establishing and leading large Program Management Offices in the health and social service sectors and has designed and delivered the review of a range of health programs to achieve policy reform objectives.
Laura thrives on engaging in meaningful work with like-minded people, that aims to improve the lives of others. This has drawn her to seek Non-Executive Director positions in her local community.
Relevant Experience:
- Medicare Urgent Care Clinics Program and package of program management support to the Primary Care Division: one of the Department of Health and Aged Care’s primary measures for investing in increased access to primary care
- Newborn Bloodspot Screening Program: evaluation of the national program to determine readiness for expansion
- National COVID-19 Vaccine Taskforce Program Delivery Office: program management and advisory support in a blended APS/contractor team across up to 17 streams of effort
- Aged Care Reform: mapping of reform pathways to support development of a strategic narrative and inform a package of fiscal policy advice to secure a 10-year funding envelope
- Queensland Health: supported the design and implementation of the Performance & Accountability Framework, the initial Purchasing Framework and drafting of Service Level Agreements with Hospital & Health Services
