Makito Kimura

Makito Kimura is a Director in the Technology segment at FTI Consulting and is based in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Kimura is an e-discovery and business development expert with more than 10 years of experience in the digital forensics and e-discovery industry, during which he has developed tight relationships with corporations and law firms in both Japan and the United States.

Mr. Kimura’s experience ranges from operations, project management, sales and marketing, strategic planning and business alliance. Additionally, he is adept in all aspects of e-discovery, with expertise and deep insight into the Japanese and Asian markets.

Mr. Kimura has conducted large-scale international cartel investigations and class actions for Japanese automobile parts makers, marine transportation companies, ball bearing makers, financial institutions and electronic parts makers. In addition, he has experience conducting large-scale U.S. litigations on trade secrets for Japanese companies.

Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Kimura worked as the head of sales at one of the largest e-discovery and forensic service providers in Japan.

Relevant Experience:

• Conducted large-scale U.S. patent litigations and International Trade Commission (“ITC”) investigations for a Japanese electronics company, against various operating companies and non-practicing entities (“NPEs”)
• Conducted large-scale U.S. patent litigations, including abbreviated new drug application (“ANDA”) litigations, for a Japanese pharmaceutical company, against operating companies
• Managed Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) investigations for a foreign branch of a Japan-based company
• Managed forensic investigations for a third party investigation committee in Japan for matters related to accounting fraud, embezzlement and data tampering
