About Dr. Markus
Dr. Markus Salge specializes in advising clients in international arbitration, litigation and out-of-court settlements. Dr. Salge acts as an expert on matters of quantum and has been instrumental in damages assessments and the preparation of expert opinions in English and German language disputes.
Dr. Salge frequently deals with complex issues that require advanced analytical tools that need to be explained in a concise and understandable manner. Throughout his career, he has been involved in large and complex matters, including the assessment of delays and disruptions in a high-profile construction project and an out-of-court settlement in connection with a high-profile infrastructure project, both involving billions of euros and dollars in dispute.
Dr. Salge earned a doctorate in political science and economics (Dr. rer. pol.) after graduating with a degree in business administration, both from the University of Mannheim in Germany. Dr. Salge is an active contributor to academic journals and societies. He has lectured at the graduate level at the Technical University of Hamburg and the University of Mannheim, alongside his research into making process improvement programs deliver real benefits.
Relevant Experience:
- Led the assessment of delay and disruption during the engineering and construction of a nuclear power plant in Finland for an ICC arbitration involving billions of euros in claims
- Appointed quantum expert by the claimants in an ICC arbitration; provided expert opinion and oral testimony on the claimants’ lost profits arising from the termination of a contract for the engineering and construction of a photovoltaic module production plant in Africa’s Maghreb region
- Appointed quantum expert by the defendant in an ICC arbitration; provided expert opinion and oral testimony on the quantum of several claims related to the design and construction of a hydrogen production unit in Finland
- Appointed quantum expert by the claimants in an ICC arbitration; provided expert opinion and oral testimony on the financial consequences of the termination of a contract for the design and construction of a semiconductor plant in Brazil
