Matt Burder

Matt Burder is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Economic and Financial Consulting practice and is based in London. Matt is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Matt has more than 16 years of experience providing financial, accounting and economic advice, typically in the context of international arbitration or litigation. His work focuses on the quantification of damages and lost profits (including those arising from breaches of contract, anti-competitive practices, regulatory decisions and patent infringement), valuations of businesses, shareholdings and intellectual property, provision of advice on accounting matters (including the assessment of financial viability and wasted costs) and profitability and price/cost test analyses in the context of economic regulation. He has worked across a range of industries, including automobiles, transport, logistics, sport, utilities, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, metals and food and drink.

Matt has worked on a range of matters before the UK High Court of Justice, the High Court of South Africa, the Competition Tribunal in South Africa and ICSID, LCIA, ICC, SCC, UNCITRAL and PCA Tribunals. He has been appointed as an expert witness in a valuation matter before the UK courts, and as an advisory expert on a valuation matter before the Royal Courts of Jersey and on a lost profits matter before the Sharjah Federal Court of Appeal.

Matt joined FTI Consulting in April 2011 following its acquisition of the economics and financial consultancy LECG. Matt was an Associate in LECG’s Finance Advisory Services practice, having joined the firm in September 2008. He holds a First-Class M.A. in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an M.Sci. in Materials Science.
