About Matt
Matt Michael has 20 years of corporate finance, executive leadership and corporate restructuring experience, including five years as the CFO of a consumer electronics company and 15 years of financial consulting.
Mr. Michael has assisted investors, board members, senior management and creditors on a wide variety of matters. He has advised clients on cost rationalization, financial planning and analysis (“FP&A”), restructuring plans, liquidity management, business planning, due diligence, debt refinancing and M&A, among other matters. Previously, Mr. Michael served as the CFO for a consumer electronics company doing business as myCharge (RFA Brands, LLC). In that role, he established all back-office functions for a carve-out, including setting up a purchasing subsidiary in China and overseeing finance, accounting, HR, IT, legal and supply chain management while playing an active role in product development and customer negotiations. myCharge customers included Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Costco, Amazon, Walgreens and airport stores. During that time, Mr. Michael also worked with the owner’s family office, advising on investments in celebrity-branded audio devices, wireless power, beverages, real estate and medical devices.
Mr. Michael began his career in corporate finance working for Intel Corporation, where he supported their purchasing organization, coordinated the quarterly company-wide purchasing expenditure plan for C-suite approval, developed and approved negotiating plans and won multiple awards for creating design-for-cost models.

Relevant Experience:
- Led a private equity-owned consumer products company through multiple distressed financing rounds while rebuilding the company’s finance organization
- Completed a challenging cost rationalization and refinancing engagement that provided more than $200 million of liquidity to a Utah-based consumer products and technology company; led engagement with the company’s Treasury and Operations Management teams
- Provided cost rationalization and a review of strategic alternatives for a consumer electronics company
- Provided interim FP&A oversight for a private equity-controlled and highly leveraged furniture company
- Negotiated Lear Corporation’s restructuring plan for secured lenders
- Provided liquidity management, business planning and a contested valuation fight for WCI Steel
- Provided acquisition due diligence, business planning, liquidity management and vendor negotiations for automotive supplier Cadence Innovation
- Provided refinancing debt for a distressed global industrial company without positive trailing EBITDA
- Provided modeling and assessing acquisition targets for automotive and metals clients
