Michael Hennigan is a Senior Director at FTI Consulting. He is part of the Forensic & Litigation Consulting group and is a legally qualified quantity surveyor with more than 16 years’ experience in the construction industry, during which he has developed a very wide range of experience, on a variety of projects and in numerous geographical locations across Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.
Michael’s work has included adjudication, arbitration and litigation support, undertaking contract reviews, project audits, contract and commercial management, as well as preparing and defending claims. Michael has comprehensive quantity surveying experience, and whilst acting on behalf of clients, has regularly undertaken tasks such as pre and post contract measurement and cost control, developing tender and contract documentation, valuing and negotiating variations, loss and expense claims and final accounts.
In addition, Michael has been appointed as the named quantum expert in adjudication and litigation and has also worked closely with party appointed quantum experts in many major international disputes, in both litigation and arbitration. He has extensive experience of the case management process and has assisted party appointed legal teams in the preparation and management of witness evidence and cross-examination questions.
Michael has been involved in a vast range of construction projects, under both standard and bespoke forms of contract, consisting of numerous major building, industrial, infrastructure and power projects such as offices, residential towers, airports, rail, power plants, wind farms, mining and pipelines, as well as onshore and offshore oil and gas projects, on both pre and post contract issues.
As well as holding a BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying, Michael also holds an LLM (Master of Law) in Construction Law and Arbitration. Additionally, Michael is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, RICS accredited as a Commercial Mediator and has an Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence.
