About Mike
Mike Ojala is a member of the Office of the CFO Solutions group. Mr. Ojala has more than 10 years of experience working on strategic consulting engagements, with core competencies in operating model optimization, shared services and outsourcing and process transformation.
Mr. Ojala has led multiple finance operating model transformations, helping his clients assess their back and middle office operations and identify strategies to reduce operating costs and increase the quality of decision support provided to the business.
Mr. Ojala has led multiple publicly traded clients through the full lifecycle (strategy through implementation) of their global business services (“GBS”) organization. He helps clients optimize their existing business process outsourcing contract and relationship, design and stand-up a captive shared service centers (“SSC”) and centers of excellence (“COE”) location, program manage the captive and outsourcing transitions and implement solutions to drive process efficiency.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Ojala was a director at KPMG where he specialized in large transformations and change management. During his tenure, he led the organizational design and implementation of a new portfolio management and governance model which helped the client achieve better visibility and control over their $1 billion IT cost center as well as led many end-to-end process transformations for publicly traded companies.
Relevant Experience:
- Designed and implemented a global business services (“GBS”) organization, optimized an existing business process outsourcing relationship and implemented solutions to drive process efficiency and organizational effectiveness for a $3.5 billion revenue customer
- Assessed multiple clients’ existing business process outsourcing contracts and implemented recommendations including revised pricing, contractual service level agreements (“SLAs”) and optimized service delivery model
- Redefined a client’s operating model strategy by assessing more than a dozen onshore and offshore locations to identify and recommend the optimal location for the client’s GBS delivery center
- Designed and implemented a strategy for portfolio process and governance model that included roles and responsibilities, performance reporting expectations and decision-making framework for a Fortune 100 customer
- Led the redesign of core finance and accounting processes and controls in order to effectively remediate a $2 billion oil field services company from financial statement material weaknesses
