Nicolas Piastra is a Senior Director in the Forensic Accounting & Advisory Services practice at FTI Consulting and is based in Melbourne, Australia.
Since 2008, Nicolas has gained valuable experience across a range of forensic accounting and litigation support engagements.
Nicolas’ experience includes 18 months on secondment to the Forensic & Litigation Support Services team in a boutique London-based consulting firm, where he was a core member in multijurisdictional, complex cases involving asset tracing (both financial and physical assets), investigations of alleged fraud and their subsequent recoveries and investigations into breaches of directors’ duties, across U.K., Lithuania and France.
Nicolas offers a wide range of experience in providing advice in the context of litigation, including quantifying economic loss and damage, providing and critiquing business valuations and assisting clients in their discovery phase.
Nicolas’ extensive technical skills have been applied to a variety of insolvency related engagements, such as preparing investigating accountants’ reports and developing financial models tailored to clients’ specific industries and needs.
Nicolas has assisted in a number of high profile and complex cases for a range of clients, including publicly listed companies and State and Federal government bodies. Frequently acting for law firms, his key clients have come from a variety of fields including litigation and dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring, employment dispute, compulsory acquisition, construction and class action specialists.
Nicolas is fluent in French, and is able to work in the U.K. and the rest of Europe in addition to providing support to FTI Consulting’s Asia Pacific region.
Nicolas holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a Chartered Accountant. He is currently completing a Master of Applied Finance at Macquarie University.
