Omar Aguilar specializes in broad and rapid business transformation efforts, and in providing innovative and lasting solutions to clients at the CEO and board levels, in the U.S. and globally, when their more important issues are at stake.
Mr. Aguilar’s areas of expertise include strategic cost transformation, margin improvement, restructuring, turnarounds, disruptive cost strategies and business model transformations enabled by “save-to-turnaround,” “save-to-fund,” “save-to-grow” and “save-to-transform” strategies to achieve scalable and sustainable results.
Within FTI Consulting, Mr. Aguilar’s primary responsibility focuses on performance improvement and business transformation efforts in the Energy, Power & Products (“EPP”) industry practice, with substantial involvement and experience in the consumer products and industrial sectors. Mr. Aguilar’s experience also extends into technology-enabled and service-focused sectors with need for operating model transformation resulting from disruptive shifts due to the emergence of cloud, automation and cognitive technologies.
Before FTI Consulting, Mr. Aguilar was a senior partner at Deloitte Consulting LLP for 17 years where he was the global leader of the Strategic Cost Transformation Market Offering, from 2015 to 2020, with services offered in over 32 countries globally. From 2011 to 2016, he focused on serving global and multilatina companies operating in Latin America, serving as America’s Regional Strategy & Operations Leader from 2011 thru 2016. During 2013 and 2014, following the acquisition of the Monitor Group by Deloitte, he also served as Managing Partner for Monitor Deloitte Brasil in Sao Paulo. Mr. Aguilar joined Deloitte in 2004, following Deloitte’s acquisition of Gunn Partners, where he served as Managing Director. Gunn Partners was a specialized consultancy, focused on organizational strategy and business transformation, leveraging its unique “lean consulting” philosophy to implement sustainable client results.
Prior to consulting, Mr. Aguilar spent 10 years at a leading energy and utility company, American Electric Power (AEP), where he held engineering and management positions at AEP’s Nuclear Generation Group.
As an externally-recognized cost management and business transformation expert, Mr. Aguilar has published widely on the topic of sustainable and scalable cost management and has been quoted by or has written for Business Finance, Strategic Finance, CEO, The Journal of Cost Management, and The Wall Street Journal, among others. He is a frequent outside speaker and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, and Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business.
