Paolo Pacciarini

Paolo Pacciarini is a Managing Director with more than 10 years of consulting experience in the Italian energy market, supporting utilities, infrastructure investors and industrial clients in complex investment and strategic decisions. Based in Milan, Dr. Pacciarini specializes in power market analysis, asset valuation, price outlooks and capital allocation in the context of energy transition. He is fluent in both Italian and English.

Dr. Pacciarini’s expertise spans commercial, technical and regulatory due diligence, infrastructure cost-benefit analysis and contract structuring for power generation and storage assets. He brings a strong quantitative background to advisory engagements, having led numerous market assessments to support client acquisitions, financings and refinancings across thermal, renewable and battery storage technologies. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Dr. Pacciarini was part of AFRY Management Consulting in Milan, where he led advisory mandates and directed multidisciplinary teams on transaction-driven timelines.

Dr. Pacciarini holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Models and Methods in Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan, which included visiting research periods at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (“EPFL”). He also earned his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Pavia.

Relevant Experience:

• Led buy-side and vendor-side market and regulatory due diligence for the acquisition of combined cycle gas turbine (“CCGT”) plants and renewable generation portfolios
• Conducted cost-benefit analyses of major energy infrastructure projects, including cross-border power interconnectors
• Directed valuation and strategic positioning work for battery storage development platforms
• Assessed and structured long-term Power Purchase Agreements (“PPA”) and tolling agreements for generation and storage assets
• Provided advisory support and independent reviews for refinancing processes across generation and storage portfolios
