Leveraging 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Robert Burns is an expert in Forensic Delay and Disruption Analysis, employing a range of analysis techniques to investigate and quantify delays to construction and engineering projects.
Robert has been appointed as a delay expert in various jurisdictions for both arbitration and adjudication matters. He has provided expertise on arbitral tribunals including the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (“DIAC”), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (“HKIA”), the Dubai International Financial Centre (“DIFC”) and the International Chamber of Commerce’s (“ICC”) International Court of Arbitration.
Robert has led engagements in claims management, contract administration, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution. He has also provided claim preparations, claim responses and assistance in contemporaneous contract and commercial issues and negotiation proceedings throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the UK.
Drawing on his extensive experience across multiple industry sectors, Robert specializes in oil and gas, defence, power, roads and bridges and airports. Robert holds both engineering and legal qualifications, having completed his B.S. in Construction Engineering and Management and his M.S. in Risk and Construction Management from Glasgow Caledonian University. He holds his LL.M. in Construction Law with Arbitration and Adjudication from Robert Gordon University. He is currently involved in advancing his academic research in construction law.
