About Stefan
Stefan Zorn is an expert in broad and rapid enterprise cost reduction and transformation efforts. Mr. Zorn has more than 25 years of experience leading enterprise-wide external spend management transformations and has sourced more than $4 billion of external spend for clients while achieving more than $850 million in savings. In his role at FTI Consulting, Mr. Zorn focuses on developing and optimizing sourcing and procurement cost reduction and optimization strategies for clients across various industries.
Mr. Zorn helps his clients to use their spend with external suppliers for competitive advantage, such as reducing their spend with suppliers, increasing their speed to market, innovation and supplier diversity, and becoming more agile.
In addition to achieving cost reductions for his clients, Mr. Zorn has enabled his clients to sustain those savings by leading enterprise-wide cost transformations, including operating model changes, organization design, process and policy optimization, change management and training and source-to-pay systems implementations.
Relevant Experience:
- Led the external spend cost reduction effort for a global wireless service provider; all direct and indirect spend categories were in scope, including network build-out and maintenance, network equipment and maintenance, MRO equipment and services, retail store build-out and maintenance, handsets, accessories, MRO, marketing, temporary labor, professional service, software and IT hardware, and identified and project managed more than $150 million annual savings
- Led the professional services cost reduction tower for a global wireless and wireline carrier; identified and helped to realize more than $75 million annual savings for all professional services, including consulting services, financial services, IT services, outsourcing services, independent contractors and temporary labor
- Led the supplier risk management improvement for all direct spend categories for a U.S.-based wireless carrier; identified supplier risk criteria, assessed the current risk profile, recommended and implemented new risk procedures and processes and automated the risk management process
- Led the post-close merger synergy realization effort for a global video game publisher to realize cost reduction synergies of more than $51 million annually; worked with the synergy business owners to negotiate cost reductions with key direct and indirect suppliers, exceeding synergy cost reduction plans by 28%
- Led the development of a strategic sourcing strategy for a global media company and identified cost savings of $85 million annually; developed and executed short-term cost reduction strategies for marketing, temporary labor, software, IT hardware and shipping
