About Tim
Tim Pettey has nearly a decade of experience providing financial and operational advisory services across a wide range of complex situations, including bankruptcy and restructuring, interim management, cash management and analysis, working capital improvement, operational and financial control reviews, financial forecasting, capital structure optimization and financial statement preparation.
Mr. Pettey has advised companies and sponsors across diverse industries, including mining, consumer products, manufacturing, inventory management and technology. He has deep experience in Chapter 11 restructuring engagements, supporting management teams in liquidity management and forecasting, negotiating with lenders, contingency planning and achieving successful emergence from bankruptcy.
Mr. Pettey has significant experience with corporate finance functions, including financial planning and analysis, liquidity and cash management and financial reporting. He has taken on interim management roles, including serving as Director of Finance for a national service business, and has supported private-equity-owned businesses in strategic financial matters. He has led capital raise initiatives totaling more than $1.8 billion and has developed sophisticated financial models to support refinancing and lender negotiations.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Pettey worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”), where he provided assurance services to private and public companies, with a primary focus in financial services. Mr. Pettey holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Accountancy from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) licensed in Missouri and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (“CIRA”).
Relevant Experience:
- Led a two-year liquidity management and capital raise engagement, raising a $250 million accounts receivable facility, facilitating data production in M&A diligence and regulatory matters, and assisting in the close of a $1.6 billion refinancing of the combined company
- Served as a key advisor to a global manufacturing business in connection with its consensual prepackaged Chapter 11 restructuring process; led the sizing of the debtor-in-possession (“DIP”) and exit financing budget and directed contingency preparation and bankruptcy administration workstreams
- Served in an interim management role as Director of Finance, revamping the budgeting process to forecast individual office locations at a granular level, consolidating financial reporting across three accounting systems and creating standardized reporting templates across multiple entities
- Advised company-side matters including Cloud Peak Energy; Foresight Energy; Hertz; White Stallion Energy; a PE-owned healthcare company; and a PE-owned technology company
