Tom Jackson is an experienced e-discovery practitioner, specialising in the design and development of custom solutions to meet client needs in the areas of e-discovery management, workflow, review and reporting. With the increasing availability of advanced technologies, artificial intelligence and workflow options, Mr. Jackson looks to understand client goals to advise best on the cost and time benefits of the various approaches available.
Mr. Jackson has demonstrable experience across the e-discovery lifecycle, for matters that span market and industry segments including finance and banking, government and public sector, science and technology. He has helped lead engagements in the U.S., Asia, the Middle East and Europe, many of which have required him to tailor the management of e-discovery workflows to meet local regulatory requirements.
Mr. Jackson helps clients optimize costs and ensure defensible data identification is performed, leveraging cloud platforms and various technologies, including AI-driven solutions, to support data identification and volume reduction ahead of an investigation. A deep understanding of the nuances and evolutions across the technology landscape underpins his approach to maximizing cost savings without harming the integrity and defensibility of workflows.
In addition, Mr. Jackson has led the development of several customised features within leading e-discovery tools. These include volume reduction, provision of insight into review efficiency and client empowerment through bespoke, real-time reporting features within review platforms. These developments help consolidate technology benefits, reduce unnecessary review and inform better decisions through the improved availability of information.
Prior to joining FTI Technology, Mr. Jackson was an Assistant Director in the Forensic Technology and Discovery Services team at EY, where he co-led the establishment and development of a regional end-to-end e-discovery office in Manchester.
Relevant Experience:
- Led multiple cross-border matters and high-profile merger clearance investigations that required the rapid collection, processing and review of terabytes of data, to provide clients with solutions to technical, logistical and regulatory challenges
- Managed several multiclient regulatory investigations, requiring careful separation of teams and workflows to deliver matters simultaneously without breaking ethical walls
- Served as a solution architect for consolidated review of audio, chat and text message data across several LIBOR investigation matters in the banking sector
- Fulfilled a lead role in developing and deploying enhanced training practices within the team to enable ongoing skill development across teams
