About Veronica
Veronica Irastorza is a recognized expert in damages estimation, competition economics and energy, with more than two decades of experience advising clients across the globe. Ms. Irastorza specializes in regulatory and contractual analysis, market design, valuation and economic damages in international arbitration. She has provided written and oral testimony in multiple legal disputes and arbitration proceedings spanning the energy, transportation, banking, commodities and real estate sectors. She is a Lexology-recommended expert in arbitration.
As a former Undersecretary of Energy Planning and Transition in Mexico, Ms. Irastorza brings unique insight into long-term energy policy, renewable energy development and energy efficiency strategies. She has advised energy companies, regulators and governments in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and the United States on matters involving market and rate design, policy and risk analysis and regulatory impacts.
Ms. Irastorza’s recent work includes expert analysis in disputes involving the valuation of intangible assets (such as the image rights case of actor Gael García Bernal), as well as damages estimation in real estate and energy arbitrations.
In recognition of her leadership in the field, Ms. Irastorza was appointed Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Energy and Transportation Committee in 2025. Her work has been published in Bloomberg, The Electricity Journal, Competition Policy International and the Oil & Gas Journal, and she has presented at numerous international conferences.
