About Wim
Wim Gysegom has more than 20 years of experience in operations and consulting on performance transformation initiatives across Europe and the United States.
Wim is part of the business transformation and strategy leadership team and is focused on further building out the transformation and operations practice in the UK and Europe to help our clients make critical decisions as they adjust to the rapidly changing marketplace.
Wim specialises in supporting boards and senior management teams to drive holistic change and transformation across the business. He has led large-scale performance transformation projects across a range of sectors, including retail, utilities and pharmaceuticals, with a particular emphasis on advanced and process-centred industries, such as chemicals and automotive. As the project lead for European and global transformation projects, he has advised clients on manufacturing and supply chain optimisation, procurement strategy, change programmes, restructuring transformation, advanced analytics, digital operations and cost improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Wim was a Partner and Head of the UK Operations Practice at McKinsey, where he also served as a member of the European leadership team for manufacturing analytics and digitisation. Prior to that, he worked in supplier production management and development at Toyota.
Relevant Experience:
- Multiyear material cost transformation for a £23 billion global automotive manufacturer, reducing the overall recurring direct material cost base with approximately £1 billion and instilling a new culture and mindset across the business, making them fully self-sufficient to run future programmes
- End-to-end operations transformation for a £1 billion utility company across capital delivery, procurement, operational efficiency, environmental performance and organisation and culture, leading to a 15% improvement in cost and optimisation of the capex portfolio
- Development and roll out of a production system at 70 sites around the world for a €5 billion steel client driving global standardisation and best practice sharing whilst reducing their cost position with €200 million and introducing a “New Way of Working” using field and forum
- Worldwide operational transformation of a $2 billion specialty chemical company across three continents using an academy based roll out approach, targeting intense cost improvements in fixed and variable cost of more than $30 million across eight sites whilst increasing overall output
- 18-month partnership with a €10 billion European steel player to set up the most advanced analytics enabled steel plant in the world by building local AA (spell out) capability leading to being one of the first World Economic Forum (“WEF”)-recognised lighthouses and an uplift in EBITDA of 30%
- Holistic business transformation programme for a £11.5 billion leading distribution and car dealership group across multiple brands moving them to best in class performance, increasing EBITDA from £0 to £50 million, by driving a focused change management and capability building programme
