A recently established private-equity-backed national specialty pharmacy platform supporting more than 1,500 provider partners required support to integrate financial operations and revenue cycle reporting, enhance analytics and deepen visibility into key metrics in order to improve performance management and support actionable strategic decision-making. FTI Consulting was engaged to design and implement a suite of revenue cycle management (“RCM”) dashboards, using Tableau to provide insights into cash flow and revenue cycle performance.
Our Impact
- The dashboards developed by FTI Consulting provided the client with real-time visibility into RCM KPIs through 11 dynamic RCM dashboards within Tableau, including approximately 170 key metrics for patient access, mid-cycle and back-end functions.
- The client is now able to monitor ongoing performance and embed data-driven management routines to identify bottlenecks, prioritize follow-up, manage workload and improve daily throughput.
- Standardizing metric definitions across sites improved operational alignment, reduced reporting discrepancies and established a single source of truth.
- FTI Consulting delivered enhanced transparency into cash flow and revenue performance, allowing client leadership to quickly identify variances by site, payor and therapeutic area and take action to address emerging issues.
Our Role
- FTI Consulting conducted a comprehensive assessment of current-state data and reporting to determine which RCM metrics could be accurately calculated and which required additional development, then collaborated with leadership from both the private equity firm and the pharmacy platform to align on key metrics and refine calculation methodologies for multiple functions of the revenue cycle.
- Our business transformation experts developed customized calculations and automated data flows within Tableau to integrate disparate data sources and support drill-downs by site, payor, provider and drug.
- The team designed and implemented 11 interactive dashboards focused on operational performance, cash flow visibility, productivity monitoring and revenue realization, each constructed with user-friendly navigation and export-ready reporting views, while partnering closely with operational and finance leadership to validate metric logic, confirm usability and ensure alignment with decision-making needs.
- FTI Consulting established a scalable reporting framework, enabling the client to add new metrics, incorporate new sites and acquisitions and extend performance reporting as the platform continues to grow.
