ActionAid, an international non-governmental organisation (“NGO”) advancing social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication, engaged FTI Consulting to make its risk assessment process more efficient and data-driven. FTI Consulting built a dashboard that transforms threat and incident data into actionable intelligence, enabling ActionAid to quickly identify high-risk areas and determine appropriate mitigations based on incident volume and severity.
Our Impact
- With access to real-time, data-driven risk insights, ActionAid’s Ukraine security team can assess risk more quickly and consistently, reducing analysis time and supporting faster decision-making to help protect staff operating in active conflict zones across Ukraine.
- ActionAid can now quickly identify the highest-risk areas based on incident volume and type, strengthening their overall risk assessment process.
- Together with ActionAid, FTI Consulting is extending access to the dashboard to other humanitarian NGOs operating in the region, helping them strengthen their own security risk assessment capabilities.
Our Role
- Working with ActionAid’s Ukraine security team, FTI Consulting helped them move beyond largely qualitative risk appraisal towards a more structured, data-driven approach.
- Drawing on more than 2 million threat and incident data points, FTI Consulting established a robust analytical foundation for assessing security risks across Ukraine.
- The team designed and built a PowerBI dashboard that visualises and organises threat and incident data by region and type, making it easier to navigate, interpret and track trends over time.
- FTI Consulting developed a customisable risk-scoring methodology, built around thresholds defined by ActionAid, that accounts for the relative risk of different threat types.
