Chris Conover is a Managing Director in the Office of the CFO Solutions practice. He has experience in strategic and functional design, planning and tactical execution, capital and debt acquisitions, complex tax structuring and compliance, cash flow optimization and financial forecasting, IT and business operations integration, financial reporting design, implementation, and execution. Mr. Conover has industry experience in real estate and financial institutions.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Conover served as the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) and EVP of Finance and Corporate Strategy at Comstock Holding Companies, a publicly traded real estate development and construction services company that delivers over 120 residential for-sale units annually and manages back office functions for its sister entity, Comstock Partners, L.C., a privately held commercial real estate enterprise. In this role, he was responsible for the oversight of finance, capital markets initiatives, accounting, internal and external financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, SEC and Nasdaq compliance, investor relations, tax compliance, human resources, and purchasing. As CFO, Mr. Conover was also the signatory and held oversight on all company tax filings and correspondence, audits, quarterly reviews, and SEC reporting.
While at Comstock, Mr. Conover was also an investment committee member, where he was responsible for the review of merger and acquisition activities, including due diligence and underwriting; prospective deal underwriting and approval; investment performance monitoring, including proforma updates and analysis; risk identification and management strategies; and coordination with external capital sources. He also led the redesign of the monthly internal financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes, including designing and managing implementation of five year forecast; monthly liquidity analysis; reduction of financial reporting process from 25 days to 15 days; and enhanced the quality of data and reports distributed while reducing the quantity of them. Before serving as the CFO of Comstock, he was SVP of Finance, Corporate Controller and Compliance Officer.
Prior to Comstock, Mr. Conover was a Controller at River House 11900 LLC, a family office portfolio of over $2 billion assets, including the Washington Redskins and interests in Red Zone Capital Management and various other private equity firms. Earlier in his career, he was an Audit Manager at PwC and worked in audit for Dannible & McKee.
Mr. Conover holds a B.S. in accounting from Ithaca College and is a Certified Public Accountant.
