John Graham is a Managing Director in the Data & Analytics practice within the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment and is based in Washington, DC. Mr. Graham’s current focus is providing expert consulting for originators and sellers of residential whole loans as well as issuers and underwriters of mortgage backed securities. With nearly 17 years in the residential mortgage whole loan and securitization industry, including senior positions at both domestic and foreign investment banks, Mr. Graham possesses a breadth and depth of knowledge in the whole loan acquisition, servicing and securitization business and related processes across all asset types. This knowledge gives him a unique perspective in working with clients to address the legal and regulatory issues now facing mortgage lenders and servicers, securities issuers and underwriters.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Graham operated a consulting business which focused on residential mortgage securitization litigation and regulatory defense support, securities contractual analysis and due diligence, as well as mortgage loan servicing operations analysis and optimization.
From 2002 through 2007, Mr. Graham had residential mortgage conduit management responsibilities initially at Credit Suisse First Boston and ultimately at Nomura Credit & Capital relating to whole loan acquisitions, sales, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac deliveries, securitizations and related servicing rights sales and transfers, as well as repurchase demands for breaches of reps and warrants.
For the ten previous years Mr. Graham managed proprietary as well as client-issued residential mortgage securitizations for Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Greenwich Capital Markets and their mortgage lending and REIT clients. Securitization types included owner and grantor trust, REMIC and re-REMIC structures and product types included prime and non-prime credit, jumbo and conforming balance, fixed- and adjustable-rate mortgage loans.
Mr. Graham began his career at Fannie Mae in their mortgage acquisition division and also assisted in the securitization of residential whole loan portfolios at the Resolution Trust Corporation obtained through financial institution receivership or conservatorship.
From 1999 through 2006 he was qualified by the NASD as a General Securities Representative (Series 7) and from 2004 through 2006, Mr. Graham was qualified by the NASD as a General Securities Principal (Series 24).
Mr. Graham holds an M.B.A. from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia as well as an M.A. from its School of Architecture. He received his B.A. from the College of William & Mary.
