Lucy C. Lee is a Managing Director in the Health Solutions practice focused on Performance Improvement. A clinician by training, Ms. Lee has expanded her career in the managerial and consulting arena and has served a wide variety of acute care institutions in the teaching, community, IDN and for-profit sectors in the past 23 years. Her expertise lies in perioperative and procedural services, clinical resource management, process re-engineering, physician engagement, clinical and business intelligence.
A results-driven people and project manager with a proven record of timely and effective delivery, Ms. Lee Led the enterprise Perioperative Efficiency Program for a 6-facility hospital chain in the Southeast. Ms. Lee guided her team to identify and prioritize efficiency enhancement opportunities. Ms. Lee led the implementation to establish the system-wide perioperative governance structure, built the performance measurement infrastructure, improved capacity and resource utilization, and streamlined patient flows. The program generated savings of $4.3M and $9.4M in the first and second year of implementation.
Ms. Lee led a non-labor cost reduction program for one of the nation’s biggest healthcare systems headquartered in Seattle, WA. Ms. Lee identified and implemented total savings opportunity of $6.7M through product standardization, contract optimization and utilization management.
Ms. Lee’s experiences include providing interim leadership and turning around surgical departments for multiple organizations. As an interim perioperative director for a level-I trauma center in Chicago, she optimized the scheduling process, reduced day of surgery cancellation from 16.58% to 5.24%, and increased block utilization to 78.50%. She established a comprehensive performance measurement mechanism to holistically evaluate operation efficiency and sustain results. As a regional ValueAnalysis director for a 5-facility healthcare system, Ms. Lee led the team to achieve a balance of optimal clinical outcomes and supply stewardship through multidisciplinary collaboration, and data-oriented and evidence-based decision making.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Lee was a Director with another top-tier healthcare management consulting firm headquartered in Chicago. She was also a founding partner for a boutique specialty firm based in Stamford, CT.
Ms. Lee holds a M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University and a Bachelor of Medicine from Peking University. She is a certified Project Management Professional and a Certified Surgical Service Manager. Ms. Lee is an author and a speaker for OR manager and OR Today.
