Neal Mizrahi is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting based in Toronto and leads the Canadian damages and valuation practice. 

For the past 15 years, Neal’s work has primarily involved the valuation of business interests and the assessment of economic damages in large, complex disputes in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He has broadly diversified industry expertise. 

Neal has testified before the International Chamber of Commerce, the Permanent Court of Arbitration (investor-state arbitration), the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta. Examples of Neal’s engagements include:

  • Damages quantification in $US 850 million dispute in the natural gas industry based in Eastern Europe, with oral testimony provided in ICC arbitration in Zurich

  • Damages quantification in $C 400 million post-acquisition dispute in the oil and gas industry with oral testimony provided in the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta

  • Damages quantification in $US 90 million post-acquisition dispute in the construction sector with oral testimony provided in the PCA in The Hague

  • Valuation of software licenses in case involving largest tax shelter in Canadian history with oral testimony provided in Federal Court

Neal has also been retained to provide transaction advisory services on issues related to valuation, accounting and risk. Further, he has been retained by the Competition Bureau of Canada to provide analyses on post-acquisition efficiencies resulting from proposed mergers. He was an adjunct professor at the Schulich School of Business at York University and at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, where over the course of the past decade, he has taught courses in accounting, business valuation and management, in the graduate and undergraduate programs

Last but not least, Neal frequently presents at industry conferences, to law firms and clients, and the expert witness at advocacy workshops organized by the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA). Neal was ranked in the Global Arbitration Review’s The International Who’s Who of Arbitration, which lists the most highly regarded experts globally in each year from 2014 to 2019.
