Robert Clover is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in London. Mr. Clover is a member of the Clean Energy practice within the Economic and Financial Consulting segment. Mr. Clover is a leading energy professional with over 20 years’ experience of investment banking and consulting. Mr. Clover has written extensive research and consulted on the renewable energy industry, energy policy, clean technology, climate change economics and sustainability.
Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Clover was a Partner and the Director of Research at MAKE Consulting, a leading specialist renewables advisory firm. At MAKE, Mr. Clover was responsible for all aspects of market forecasting, economic, strategic, supply chain and technology analyses of renewable energy systems. Prior to that Mr. Clover spent 20 years as an investment banker, with the last 10 years covering the clean energy sector, as the Global Head of HSBC’s top-ranked Clean Technology Research team, covering the wind, solar, battery storage, electric vehicle, energy efficiency, biofuels, synfuels and utility sectors.
Prior to HSBC, Mr. Clover worked for JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and UBS. Mr. Clover is also ACCA-qualified (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). He has a strong financial and advisory background with experience in market forecasts and industry benchmarking, strategic market entry, and due diligence, as well as capital raising, mergers & acquisitions and valuations.
Mr. Clover’s project experience includes advising on renewable energy technology, investments and economics, corporate strategy formulation, supply and demand forecasts/evaluations, strategic market entry & exit, capital raising, balance sheet restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, due diligence reviews and energy policy.
Mr. Clover has worked with many global clients and led projects throughout the energy value chain including emerging technology companies, supply chain, OEMs, environmental organisations, utilities, developers, energy companies, venture capital, private equity, institutional investors, hedge funds and government agencies.
Mr. Clover has a deep understanding of the key generation technologies, capital markets, market structures, business strategy, market forecasting and industry benchmarking, supply chains and policy regimes in key global energy markets.
Mr. Clover is well known across the renewables industry in particular for his written research, which has been cited. He is often sought for his views from leading media outlets on energy issues. Robert frequently speaks at, or chairs renewable energy conferences.
