Sid Malhotra is a Senior Managing Director in the Business Transformation practice and specializes in merger integrations and carve-outs, operations and revenue growth. He has over 20 years of experience in providing business strategy, business model development and operating model transformation services to global companies. His industry expertise is in energy, power and products and chemicals.
Mr. Malhotra’s experience includes ‘blue sky’ growth strategy, business strategy planning, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), portfolio management, commercial and operational due diligence, channel and customer profitability, product and pricing optimization, research and development innovation, go-to-market planning, operations and supply chain management, network optimization, organization and change management and operations excellence. His most recent experience includes an outside-in 20-year growth strategy perspective and a go-forward ways-to-play business model for the largest international oil company’s chemicals business unit.
Mr. Malhotra has served as an advisor to many global firms across the energy industry, including Asian conglomerates, global oil field services players, global petrochemical players, independents, majors, national oil companies, private equity firms, specialty and fine chemical players and state owned enterprises through large scale operational transformation, due diligence, post-merger integration and inorganic and organic strategic growth assessments.
Mr. Malhotra served as the Interim Global Strategy VP to help develop a Vision 2020 detailed plan, including focus areas, roadmaps, team and expected results, by region. He also developed an inorganic M&A growth strategy, conducted commercial and operational due diligence of targets, supported negotiations and developed a merger integration Day 0 to Day 100 plan for a major pulp and paper operator. Mr. Malhotra additionally transformed the business of an integrated chemicals firm to build a natural market model by aligning strategy, policies, and operations across all functions, including marketing, operation and supply chain, resulting in upwards of a $20 million profit increase, over $60 million in working capital reductions and an 11% increase in customer service levels. In addition, Mr. Malhotra has occasionally served in interim management positions for several global companies in senior strategy and supply chain roles.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Malhotra was a Director at KPMG Strategy and has worked across both consulting and global corporations, including AT Kearney, Booz & Co., Celanese, Dow Chemicals and Schlumberger. Mr. Malhotra has published articles focused on the chemicals industry regarding M&A and natural supply chain.
Mr. Malhotra holds a B.S. in chemical engineering and chemistry and graduated as the valedictorian of his class at The University of Houston. He also holds an M.B.A. in strategy with honors from The University of Texas, Austin. He is a Master Black Belt Six Sigma. He is fluent in Hindi and Spanish and conversational in French.
