Steven Bissell specializes in supporting and guiding stakeholders on large domestic and cross-border restructuring, business transformation and acquisition transactions throughout Canada, the U.S., Mexico and South America. Mr. Bissell has over 20 years of experience assisting clients in business recovery and restructuring, interim management, merger and acquisition advisory, business plan development and due diligence. His industry experience includes retail, telecom, mining, steel production, manufacturing, media and utilities.
Mr. Bissell's restructuring experience has consisted primarily of advising debtors during times of financial distress including assessing business plans and financial forecasts, identifying assets as a source of future growth or immediate recoveries and determining the extent of cash requirements to satisfy current and future liabilities.
In his capacity as an advisor to management and stakeholders, Mr. Bissell has prepared integrated three-way, 13-week cash flow, product-costing and other financial models used to assist in understanding options and negotiating complex transactions.
Mr. Bissell's transaction experience includes overseeing the sale or wind-down and closure of over 100 retail locations of one of Canada’s largest retailers; identifying and managing the sale of redundant assets for a multinational mining company; and providing buy-side due diligence services to multi-national companies looking to invest in Chilean infrastructure and utility projects.
Mr. Bissell’s business transformation experience includes assisting a global media firm’s initiative to downsize and relocate its Canadian headquarters to reduce fixed costs; acting as interim treasurer for the North American operations of a physical media manufacturer and logistics firm; and developing detailed, bottoms-up cost of production models to support product pricing decisions and restructuring transactions.
