About Timothy
Tim Wondolowski is a Managing Director in the FTI Consulting Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment and is based in Boston. Mr. Wondolowski has more than 17 years of experience in providing accounting, auditing and litigation consulting services, including forensic accounting and securities fraud. He provides advisory services regarding a broad range of complex accounting matters to law firms and both privately held and publicly traded companies ranging in size from early stage development enterprises to large multinational corporations. Mr. Wondolowski regularly provides guidance regarding FASB pronouncements and related interpretations as well as guidance on overall financial reporting matters such as restatements of financial statements, SEC rules and regulations and other disclosure considerations.
Over the past several years, Mr. Wondolowski has assisted numerous biotechnology, medical device and technology companies through the initial public offering process, as well as providing support to newly public registrants. In this capacity, he provided guidance on accounting and disclosure for historical debt and equity financing transactions, derivatives, revenue recognition, license and collaboration agreements, equity compensation, leases, impairment, divestitures and business combinations. He also works closely with management in preparation of the Form S-1, through the SEC comment letter process and with their initial filings as a public company.
Mr. Wondolowski also has extensive experienced providing forensic and technical accounting consulting services to clients in connection with SEC investigations, white collar crimes, litigation, financial statement restatements and allegations of auditor malpractice. He has managed numerous accounting investigations where potential accounting irregularities were identified by a whistleblower which led the company and/or board of directors to conduct an inquiry. He has also advised many clients through the restatement and remediation process once accounting irregularities have been identified.
Lastly, Mr. Wondolowski has advised counsel in multiple criminal defense matters concerning C-level executives that have been indicted on securities fraud allegations involving accounting issues. These matters included allegations of inappropriate software revenue recognition, sham “round-trip” transactions and expense avoidance which purportedly allowed the respective companies to meet its analyst’s expectations. Mr. Wondolowski was a key member of the defense teams in preparation for trial as well as during the trial proceedings.
