Real Estate Valuation Expert Yunsoo Kim Joins as a Managing Director in the Strategic Advisory & Transactions Services Group
Stephen Bertonaschi and Laura Jackson Promoted to Senior Managing Directors in the Tax Advisory Group
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 21, 2019 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the appointment of Yunsoo Kim as a Managing Director in the Strategic Advisory & Transaction Services group within the Real Estate Solutions practice and the recent promotion of Stephen Bertonaschi and Laura Jackson to Senior Managing Directors in the practice’s Tax Advisory group.
Ms. Kim, who is based in New York, specializes in valuation for asset acquisitions, divestiture, financing and financial reporting. Throughout her career, she has served corporate, private equity and hedge fund clients on a wide variety of assignments, including portfolio valuation, underwriting and appraisal reviews.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Kim was a Director at Duff & Phelps, primarily working on valuation, assurance and fairness opinions on real estate assets owned by private equity and multinational clients. Prior to this, she worked at CNL Income Corp., a private real estate investment trust (“REIT”), where she led the development of a corporate financial model, as well as reviewed quarterly financial performance and real estate asset underwriting. Ms. Kim also worked at GE Real Estate in Seoul, South Korea and was a member of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Financial Advisory Services practice.

Ms. Kim earned a B.S. in housing and interior design from Yonsei University in South Korea and an M.M.H. in hospitality from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. She is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. She is also a member of the Appraisal Institute and is a CFA charterholder.
Mr. Bertonaschi specializes in federal, state and local tax and has more than 16 years of experience advising clients on entity formation and structuring, real estate asset acquisitions and dispositions, REIT due diligence and compliance matters. He also has deep expertise in institutionally owned real estate, with a significant focus on public REITs, partnership roll-ups, buy- and sell-side due diligence, tax accounting, like-kind exchanges, disguised sales, RIDEA tax structures and financial statement income tax provisions.
A resident of Roseland, N.J., Mr. Bertonaschi holds a B.S. in accounting from William Paterson University and an M.S. in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He holds a graduate state and local tax certification from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.
Ms. Jackson specializes in the REIT and partnership area of real estate taxation, providing expertise in due diligence, structuring, REIT compliance, §754 adjustments and partnership taxation. She developed FTI Consulting’s REIT due diligence tax group, which now serves numerous public and private REITs. She also has extensive experience with deal structuring, creating §704(c) models and handling complicated domestic and international tax compliance for large public and private real estate clients.
A resident of Florham Park, N.J., Ms. Jackson currently serves as Vice President on the Board of Rebuilding Together NYC, a nonprofit organization that promotes safe and healthy housing throughout New York City. She also founded the She Builds initiative, which empowers prominent women in real estate to give back to the communities they serve. In 2018, Ms. Jackson was honored with the New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Award for her volunteer work with Rebuilding Together NYC and Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Award.
Ms. Jackson holds a B.S. in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Monmouth University, where she graduated summa cum laude and first in her class, and an M.S. in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University. A Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Commercial Real Estate Women of New York, National Association of Industrial/Office Properties, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.
